An opportunity has arisen for an Early Years Learning Lead: Early Language to join our Early Years Stronger Practice Hub team.

Contract type: Fixed term until March 2028, with possibility of extension until March 2029. 4 days
per week term time only or 156 days all year round

Pay:

£350.00 per day being paid directly as a self-employed contractor / consultant
or by agreed release from your existing role, with payment be made to your setting for your
release.
Working Pattern: 4 days per week, term time only or 156 days all year round
Location: Hybrid – in settings, Bradford office and home working

 

 

About the Role

St Edmund’s Early Years Stronger Practice Hub is seeking an Early Years Learning Lead: Early Language to support the delivery of evidence-informed early language practice across West and South Yorkshire.

Working as part of the Early Years Stronger Practice Hub team, you will deliver high-quality professional development, provide bespoke support to early years settings, and work collaboratively with local authorities and partner organisations to improve outcomes for young children.

The role will focus on strengthening early language provision across early years settings through training, coaching, mentoring and targeted support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend training delivered by Department for Education-appointed subject matter experts and engage with ongoing support.
  • Develop and deliver a locally specific early language delivery plan based on local needs.
  • Deliver Department for Education-owned early language professional development programmes.
  • Facilitate webinars and support cohorts of educators undertaking Early Years Stronger Practice CPD.
  • Provide bespoke support to early years settings through coaching, modelling and reflective practice.
  • Support settings to select, adapt and embed evidence-informed approaches and interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with local authorities, Best Start Family Hubs, English Hubs and other stakeholders.
  • Encourage the use of effective screening tools to identify language delays and SEND.
  • Maintain accurate records of impact, progress and key performance indicators.

Essential Requirements

  • Level 6 qualification.
  • Experience working with children aged 0–4 in an early childhood education context.
  • Experience working with a range of childcare provider types.
  • Experience leading professional development in early language.
  • Experience mentoring others or using coaching approaches to support improvement.
  • Experience developing and implementing delivery plans that respond to local needs.
  • Experience working collaboratively with multi-agency teams and local authority services.
  • Extensive knowledge of early language development and evidence-informed practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Desirable Requirements

  • Level 3 qualification in speech, language and communication.
  • Full driving licence.
