Research indicates a positive relationship between effective leadership, higher quality provision, and improved outcomes for children in ECE settings. But what do ECE leaders do to achieve these positive outcomes?
Dr Elizabeth Wood presented selected findings from a research project that focused on leadership for quality improvement, drawing on the perspectives of ECE leaders in England and Australia.
The webinar aimed to:
· Understand the roles and responsibilities of designated leaders from the perspective of policy.
· Explore how leaders understand their roles, and the practices they use to work with their teams, with children and families.
· Understand the significance of policy literacy.
· Appreciate the moral and ethical commitments expressed by the leaders in our study.
This research was funded by the Australian Research Council
The project is reported in full in Nuttall, J., Henderson, L., Wood, E. and Martin, J. (2024) Leadership in Early Childhood Education - A cultural-historical theory of practice development.
