What minimum qualifications do I need to train as a primary teacher?

  • GCSE grade C/4 or above in English, maths and science.
  • 2.2 Honours degree or above in any subject.

What minimum qualifications do I need to train as a secondary teacher?

  • GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths.
  • 2.2 Honours degree or above, typically with at least half its content relevant to the subject you want to teach. Talk to us if you are unsure about what subject you can train in. You may be offered a free subject knowledge enhancement course.

GCSE Mathematics, English and Science Equivalency Tests

The SCITT is a test centre for English, Maths and combined Science equivalency testing. These tests can be taken directly through Bradford Birth to 19 SCITT, once your application has come through.

The cost of each test sat is approximately £100 (including VAT).  Fees are payable, in full, upon booking. Bradford Birth to 19 SCITT will then charge a £25 admin fee on top of this to invigilate the test.
