Overview / Experience

  • Sam Adams has extensive experience of working in teaching and learning establishments
  • As a teacher and consultant, he has taught – and continues to teach and support teachers – all year groups across the primary age range – including mixed-age group classes
  • Sam has been a Deputy Head teacher in a Leeds Primary school and has led Mathematics, English, Assessment, History and RE
  • He has also led an Early Years phase and a Key Stage 2 phase in different schools
  • Sam also has experience as a SENCO
  • Sam accepted a Numeracy Consultancy post which led to the opportunity to become the senior Improving Schools Programme (ISP) Consultant in a local authority
  • He also co-led the Yorkshire and Humberside ISP Hub – working with Consultancy teams across fifteen local authorities.
  • In January 2010, Sam co-founded EW Ltd – providing bespoke mathematics and school improvement support to primary schools in Yorkshire and across the country
  • This support ranges from providing planning and team-teaching sessions with teachers to whole staff CPD to supporting Maths Weeks to developing contextualised, reasoning approaches in schools
  • He has recently developed a KS1 / KS2 planning resource – Fluency Plans – that will shortly be available in hard and interactive, electronic copies
  • Sam is also a national Talking Maths trainer and consultant
